Build a sound that wants to be played

A 1950s space-age vision of warm synthesis, expressive motion, and finished sound

Foundation

Blend two oscillators with sub and noise to build everything from a clean fundamental to a dense harmonic core

Motion

Use PWM, drift, unison, hard sync, cross modulation, and ring modulation to keep a held note alive

Character

Move from stable clarity to worn, animated weight with Condition, drive, and two nonlinear filter models

Expression

Shape how every note speaks through velocity, three envelopes, performance macros, and flexible voice modes

Sequence

Turn chords and single notes into timed phrases with a 16-step arpeggiator, swing, latch, ties, and holds

Atmosphere

Finish the patch with drive, chorus, phaser, delay, reverb, tone, compression, and limiting inside the instrument

From oscillator to finished instrument

A readable left-to-right architecture keeps sound generation, filtering, movement, performance, and finishing connected, while advanced routing remains available when the patch needs to go deeper.

Signal architecture ONYX / V1.0.0
Blend
Mix sine, triangle, saw, and pulse continuously in two band-limited oscillators, with up to eight unison lanes each
Move
Route envelopes, tempo-capable LFOs, performance sources, and random variation through a 16-slot modulation matrix
Finish
Carry the sound through nonlinear filtering and a serial eight-module effects rack without leaving the instrument

Depth without losing immediacy

ONYX keeps the primary voice path direct while giving modulation, sequencing, performance, and finishing enough range to turn a simple waveform into a complete playable patch.

  1. Sculpt at the source

Combine waveform blends, pulse width, tuning, sub, noise, sync, cross modulation, ring modulation, and unison before the signal reaches the filter

  2. Animate with intent

Create repeatable motion with two LFOs and three envelopes, or introduce controlled individuality through drift, voice-card variation, and the Condition macro

  3. Perform the patch

Choose poly, mono, legato, chord, or unison behavior, map eight performance macros, and audition across the persistent 88-key keyboard

  4. Trust the engine

The tested oscillator path uses band-limited wavetable generation and four-times oversampling for dynamic wave shaping, with smoothed click-safe transitions and allocation-free rendering after preparation
